Golf Wang x Vans Old Skool 2015

Saturday 26th September saw the UK release of the third offering from an ongoing relationship between Odd Future and Vans for the latest Golf Wang x Vans Old Skool collections.
Unfortunately, I've completely missed the last two releases and I've hated myself for it! So for this release I stayed up until midnight (if you know me on a personal level you'll know this is an achievement), which ensured I did not miss out on these ones.

The full collection features an expected array of colours including oranges, greens and pinks (the pair I picked up) which are all stowed upon the classic Old Skool silhouette. In comparison to the 2011 release, the colours are a lot more vibrant and even feature a checkerboard print throughout the midsoles. Each colourway also fits perfectly with some of the latest releases from Tyler’s own brand: Golf Wang. The tongue features Golf branding and all colourways come with white lacing.

With his album Cherry Bomb released earlier this year and a joint tour with A$AP Rocky, Danny Brown and Vince Staples all under his belt, Tyler is again having a phenomenal year and really is beginning to gain the respect and admiration of everybody who previously slated him (apart from the UK government who need to really sort out their priorities.)

Straight Outta......Cardiff?

With everyone being on an N.W.A flex at the moment, it only seemed right for me to chip in with a blog post of my own. I've listened to hip hop for as long as I can remember and I've always been more drawn to West Coast music as opposed to East Coast. Through my teenage years artists such as The Game and Xzibit really opened the door for my ears to explore hip hop as a whole and has since pushed me onto the new generation of West Coast rappers such as Tyler, The Creator, Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q. But as I delved further into the history of the genre it always took me back to the same starting point: N.W.A. Made up of Dr Dre, Ice Cube, Eazy E, MC Ren and DJ Yella, N.W.A were the first gangster rap group to really push boundaries and talk about what is was really like growing up in Compton, California.

Fast forward to nearly 30 years later, their legacy still lives on with the recent release of the Straight Outta Compton movie. I highly recommend anyone to go and see the film, even if you're not into hip hop music as it gives an insight into the life of pioneers of the rap game.

My cousin and I had a few hours spare so decided to mess around near an abandoned chemical factory and take a couple of photos (which came out really well if I do say so.) The t shirt I have on, with Eazy E on the front, was actually designed and released by my cousin himself in 2009, for a band that he once fronted. For it to last six years is incredibly lucky as it is one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe! Teamed with a black Carhartt denim jacket, black LA fitted cap and a pair of hi top Chuck Taylor's, it's clear to see N.W.A have influenced this skinny white boy in more ways than one!

LATEST PICK UP: Pharrell Williams x Stan Smith

If you're a regular reader of my blog then you'll already know I've had my eye on these for a very long time. When I was in Amsterdam a few months back I saw these shoes everywhere but couldn't bear spending 150 euros on them. So when I saw these in my local adidas shop for £63 there was no way I could leave them.

I've been a fan of Stan Smith's for as long as I can remember and when I first saw Pharrell was collaborating with adidas on these I was ecstatic. Although Pharrell has put his own touch on the classic silhouette with the polka dot patterns and Pharrell Williams three stripes branding across the heel, I like how he kept some of the classic Stan Smith attributes such as the perforated three stripes and premium leather upper.

Before I shoot off, I have to explain why I've got no socks on in these photos. Just as I was about the put these on for the very first time,  I was taking off my old plain white Stan Smiths and it turned out I'd stood in the biggest pile of dog shit and it had somehow managed to penetrate my socks. How gross is that? It was so messed up I ended up throwing away my socks and shoes, so please spare a thought for my fallen homies aka my Stan Smith's originals.
